We are so blessed to have finished off the 2017 wedding season helping so many amazing couples-turned-friends plan and design their special days. We already have some amazing couples on the calendar for next year (with new clients joining the Wedding Wise family every month!) and we are looking to build the right team to help us give them the best planning experience possible.
Wedding Wise is hiring an intern for 2018! We get so many lovely ladies and gents inquiring about internship opportunities over the course of the year, so we are beyond thrilled to be presenting this opportunity to help one lucky person get their feet wet in the wedding industry.
What will you get out of our internship?
Assist lead wedding planner at rehearsals and weddings
Gain experience with how a wedding planning business is run behind-the-scenes, from helping with social media and blog posts to styled shoot assistance and more!
Learn how to network with wedding vendors and attend networking events with Wedding Wise
Occasionally attend client or vendor meetings and site visits
Get exposure to the workflow of a wedding planner and must-have planning tools
College credit (if applicable)
Are you a good fit for the Wedding Wise team?
We are looking for an intern who:
Can’t get enough of weddings, bridal gowns, color palettes, classic designs, delicious food, unique details and beautiful ceremonies!
Is self-admittedly a little Type A and thrives on organization and “all the details.”
Believes in being a team player and that no task is too small or large for you to tackle with grace and vigor.
Is tech/social media savvy and enjoys geeking out over learning/optimizing new programs (especially tech that helps you stay organized!)
Is a confident writer and is excited to write about weddings regularly
Has great ideas and instincts and isn’t afraid to share them.
Has looked through our website and social media channels and feels drawn to our weddings and our brand.
Is eager to learn about ALL aspects of being a wedding planner.
Ok, here’s the nitty gritty.
You must be:
- Located in the Seattle area with reliable transportation
Able to lift up to 40 lbs
Able to be on your feet for 8+ hours on wedding days
Able to commit to internship from mid-January through October
Have a high school education or equivalent
Available to work on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the summer (exact dates to be determined as far in advance as possible)
Able to work 5 hours per week and an extra 8-12 hours on wedding days. The work schedule is very flexible. Except for wedding days and the occasional in-person meeting, you can do most of your work from home, whenever is convenient for you!
PLEASE NOTE: This is an unpaid internship.
Our 2017 intern, Megan, was kind enough to sum up her experience interning with us to help prospective 2018 interns get a sense of what the experience is like.
There are so many positive things to say about this internship I don’t even know where to start! First off, I am so thankful to have been chosen as the 2017 intern for Wedding Wise. Our wedding season was busy and it made for an exciting 10 months of wedding love and celebration.
If you are looking for an opportunity to get to know the wedding industry – this is the internship for you! This internship was everything I had hoped it to be - Julia was an amazing mentor and boss as she walked me through the highlights of being a wedding planner. She introduced me to a whole different world as we visited open houses at different venue spaces and guided me through amazing wedding planning tools that seriously blew my mind. Julia was always mindful of delegating the perfect balance of work so I could learn but also help contribute to the success of Wedding Wise.
Wedding nights were my absolute favorite part of the internship. What an amazing evening to be a part of! I was always prepped and fully informed before the night began (of course thanks to Julia) so there were no surprises. Yes, being a part of this internship (and/or being a wedding planner!) means you may have to lift heavy boxes or sometimes set up finicky easels, but it also means you get to mingle and meet happy couples and celebrate a momentous occasion. It was absolutely unforgettable. I have no complaints about this internship and could not be more thankful for the opportunity to work with Julia and Wedding Wise! Good luck to everyone and I hope you find your experience as rewarding as I did!
