2017 Pantone Color of the Year | How to Use Greenery in Your Wedding

When the Pantone color of the year was announced, I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical at first. It just reminded me of grass! But I've thought about it and looked back through photos from my recent weddings, I've realized that the 2017 Pantone color of the year, Greenery, is MADE for the Pacific Northwest. I mean, green is kind of our thing here. We get "all the rain" so we have "all the green." Well except come late August when we haven't had rain for awhile and everything is more shades of yellow. ;)

We are starting to plan our annual Pantone Color of the Year styled shoot and I'm so excited! Before the color was announced I had high hopes for one or two others from the Pantone 2017 color trend report! But, Greenery is a color that couples can easily include in their wedding that already exists in nature in flowers and, of course, real greenery! I love what the color represents and the meaning it holds - new, clean, fresh, revitalization. I think we all want more of that in 2017!

Here are some ways you can incorporate Greenery into your wedding.

Pantone Greenery
Wedding Ideas

Greenery in Paper & Stationery

Our favorite way to incorporate color, especially Pantone colors, is through your paper goods and stationery. Tease your guests with what is to come at the wedding by adding some greenery accents to your invitations. Try a ribbon or paper band in Greenery to hold the invitation suite together! At the wedding, get creative with the color by including it as a subtle pop on an otherwise neutral wedding menu, or create an ombre escort card display using Greenery and it's "color neighbors".

Greenery in Wedding Decor

Greenery is a bright and welcoming color, but it can be too dominant if used in excess! We recommend to use Greenery in your wedding as an accent, not as the main attraction. Mix in an assortment of Greenery-colored votive holders in addition to classic clear, wrap your bouquets in Greenery ribbon, or use the color in your wedding signs. There are so many ways to include this refreshing color in a tasteful way that enhances your wedding design!

Greenery in
Wedding Attire & Accessories

I love using a wedding accent color in wedding attire or accessories! Give patterned Greenery ties to the groomsmen or some fun socks! For the bridesmaids, try a dress sash in Greenery or statement necklaces. Throw on an adorable pair of green heels for an adorabe photo and splash of color as you are walking down the aisle.

Greenery in Wedding Flowers

The Pantone color of the year is called Greenery for a pretty obvious reason. ;) A great way to include Greenery in your wedding is through your floral design! Ask your florist which types of greenery is in season that you could add to your design. Check out this handy Pantone Greenery floral guide with other flowers that will pair well with your greenery.

Greenery in Wedding Desserts

Including the Greenery color in your food is an unexpected surprise for your guests! Think key lime pies, cake accent design, sugared pears, or macarons. I always tell my clients to think of their dessert as another piece of wedding decor. Why not fully incorporate it into your wedding colors and design?
